Yearly performance reviews are a key part of many workplaces across the country and is an instrumental way for employers to document employees performance throughout the past year. These performance reviews also provide employees with the knowledge off what they have done well and what they should try to improve on. However, there are multiple other ways in which performance reviews can be utilized and numerous types of reviews that can be used. â€Å"Performance appraisal can be viewed as the process of assessing and recording staff performance for the purpose of making judgments about staff that lead to decisions. Performance appraisal should also be viewed as a system of highly interactive processes which involve personnel at all levels in differing degrees in determining job expectations, writing job descriptions, selecting relevant appraisal criteria, developing assessment tools and procedures, and collecting interpreting, and reporting results.†( The University of Georgi a, VirginiaTech, 2008) The utility and use of performance appraisals.
